Storytelling Project – Haglur

Haglur is a small village near Solapur. The Sanskar Sanjivani Foundation, founded by Mr. Parmeshwar Kale, runs a hostel for children from economically and socially neglected communities. Many of these children were earlier cut off from the mainstream of education and had very limited learning resources.
In April 2025, the Duwa Kendra Foundation launched a unique storytelling initiative for these students. As internet access is limited, the project uses a simple and innovative method — stories are narrated over a mobile phone, with the sound amplified through a loudspeaker while children gather together to listen.

The sessions began with short, engaging stories and gradually expanded to include quizzes, spoken English practice, and recitation of Manache Shlok. Over time, the children developed a strong interest in interacting, asking questions, and discussing different topics.

What started with shy and hesitant participants has now grown into a confident group of learners. Today, the children actively take part in conversations, and every month one student proudly narrates a story to the group.

This initiative is helping build confidence, communication skills, and a joyful connection
with learning among children who need it the most.
