Nature Conservation at Sipna: Turning Love for Nature into Action
Sipna, a remarkable man-made forest near Pune, spreads across 20 acres and serves as a vital green oxygen hub for the city and surrounding areas. At a time when urban spaces are rapidly losing their natural cover, protecting and nurturing such ecosystems has become an urgent responsibility.
With this vision, Duwa Kendra Foundation has been actively supporting Sipna’s conservation, maintenance, and ecological growth through sustained volunteer efforts and financial assistance.
Creating Spaces for Biodiversity
On 25 December 2025, a Butterfly Garden was inaugurated at Sipna — a meaningful step toward strengthening biodiversity. Butterflies are essential pollinators and powerful indicators of a healthy ecosystem.
Volunteers planted a diverse range of trees and flowering plants to create a sustainable habitat, while the foundation provided financial support to ensure the garden’s long-term maintenance.
When Nature Became the Valentine
On 14 February 2026, the foundation led a unique and inspiring initiative — celebrating Valentine’s Day by expressing love for nature.
College students, young volunteers, and community members came together at Sipna to participate in hands-on conservation activities:
- Seed collection
- Plant pruning
- Grass cutting and landscape care
- Plastic waste removal
This meaningful celebration transformed a day usually associated with personal relationships into a powerful symbol of collective environmental responsibility. These efforts are nurturing greener urban spaces, increasing biodiversity, and inspiring citizens — especially youth — to become active guardians of nature.
